'I recorded the track using a Uher reel-to-reel tape recorder. Initially, I began this remix without listening to the entire song. Instead, I went through each individual stem, regarding them as distinct sonic archives and artefacts, trying to map out and reimagine a new reality, sonic space and dialogue. After a few days of immersive listening practice, the stems started to sound more like field recordings from a delicate piece of past memory - something nostalgic, accessible, warming and familiar. Eventually, the feeling led me to the idea of recording the samples all onto tapes- a medium that carries echoes of the past, its delicacy, graininess and lightness. After listening to the somewhat fragmented long recordings on the reels all at once, it began to sound like an experimental sonic scratch book with collaged samples, I proceeded to cut out tape loops, and then I recorded and rearranged them using software. The entire experience feels like forging an eternal liaison between the analogue echoes and the surgical precision of the digital realm.'

the Kofu collection conjure up haunting images of an old world using modern collage technics. Meitei (meaning intoxicated) has produced some of the most beautiful music I have heard in recent years. Many thanks. chrisalletson
